As we near the end of 2017, I find myself reflecting on all we have accomplished at NARI this year – and looking forward to 2018. We continue to grow our membership and expand the ways we make a collective impact on our region and our industry. Many industry leaders in our area, and around the country, have taken notice of our success, too. They are eager to understand how, in a time when many associations are seeing declining membership, we are flourishing. Not only are we growing, but our members are more engaged than ever, too. The secret to our success is easy. It’s YOU!
We launched 2017 thinking about workforce development and formed a new committee to examine how NARI could better support our members as they cultivate workers. Our program year theme was dedicated to finding, growing, and keeping great employees. And, we expanded on the success of our Youth Remodeling Career Day event. Once again we hosted nearly 500 students in vocational programs from around the state for our day-long event designed to showcase the work of the remodeling industry. This year we were pleased to have This Old House join us at the event. Their Generation Next campaign is focused on inspiring youth to pursue careers in the trades. Look for the segment from our career day in early 2018! We also welcomed the crew from ToolBoxBuzz.com to the event this year. They brought nearly $10,000 in tools from Milwaukee and DeWALT to show the students. And, after the event, we had the pleasure of partnering with their crew to deliver those tools to Career and Vocational Technical Education programs in the area. In 2018, our hope is to continue to grow our partnerships with the schools so we can ensure that those students who have the creativity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial spirit will consider a career in remodeling.
Education continues to be at the heart of our membership experience. In 2018 we will continue to offer best-in-class membership programming with a focused theme on marketing. We will also be expanding our educational offerings to ensure that EM NARI remodeling contractors can obtain all their CEUs for their CSL renewal through NARI. We are excited to launch our newest program – The Remodelers Conference – which combines a full day educational symposium with our popular Vendor Table Top Expo. Mark your calendar to attend this event on Friday, February 9th.
As you can see, we have accomplished so much this past year – and are looking forward to continuing this work in 2018. These efforts can’t happen without our members. Allow me to first thank our 2017 sponsors for their financial support. We are so fortunate to have sponsors who not only look for value in marketing their business to our members – but more importantly find value in supporting the work we do. Thank you to:
GOLD SPONSORS: CPS HVAC and The Granite Group
SILVER SPONSORS: California Closets, F. D. Sterritt Lumber, Mason & Mason, Pella, and Woodmeister Master Builders
BRONZE SPONSORS: Designer Bath, Kohler, National Lumber, Resource Options, Inc., and Splash
And thank you to ALL the members who so generously supported and sponsored our dinner meetings, CotY Awards, golf tournament, career day, and more. These investments add up to ensure that we can continue to press forward with our work.
Just as important as the financial support we receive is the support from all our volunteers throughout the year. We have over 100 members who volunteered their time this year in support of our programs. Many serve on one of our eight standing committees; others volunteer their time at one of our events. The heavy work of our chapter is made light with so many members working together. Allow me to give a special thank you to our chapter Board of Directors who provide the strategic direction and guidance that keeps our chapter progressing forward.
I feel particularly fortunate that this will not be my last message to you as President. With much encouragement from our chapter’s Past-Presidents, our membership has voted to extend the terms of our officers to two years. I am delighted to have the chance to continue to serve the chapter as President and work with all of you to continue our work as we fulfill our chapter mission of advancing quality in the professional remodeling industry in our region.
At this special time of year, I hope that you will have a moment to reflect on 2017. I hope the season is filled with happy times with family and friends. And, I hope to see you on January 3rd as we kick off another wonderful year at EM NARI!
Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for a Wonderful New Year!Kathy DeMeyer508.firstname.lastname@example.org
