Each year, EM NARI members raise funds throughout the year in support of scholarships for graduating high school seniors. Since it's inception, the scholarship program has awarded 6 scholarships to outstanding graduating seniors who are children of EM NARI members.
This year, EM NARI was proud to announce the launch of a new scholarship offering - the Trade Scholarship. This award is given to a graduating senior who will be pursuing a career in the remodeling industry. The award may be used for post-secondary training and education expenses, or for direct job related expenses - such as tools.
On May 7th, EM NARI members gathered at their monthly membership meeting. Scholarship Program Chairman, Gary Morrison led the awards and shared some back ground on each of the awardees:
Rachel is a graduating senior at Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton, MA. She is a competitive figure skater and gives back to the community by teaching disabled people to figure skate and by tutoring elementary and middle school students in Spanish. In the fall, Rachel will be attending Merrimack College in Andover, MA where she plans to study International Affairs and Pre-Law.
John is graduating from the carpentry program at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational High School. He is an Eagle Scout and enjoys trap shooting and cross country running. As the son and grandson of carpenters, John has a passion for building and remodeling. In the fall, John will attend the New England Institute of Technology where he plans to study Construction Management. Eventually, John hopes to own his own business remodeling and restoring antique homes and furniture. Of the scholarship award John said, "Opportunities like one that you have so kindly presented to me, provide me with a stronger ability to achieve my life's goals."
EM NARI Scholarships are awarded annually. Applications will be posted by January 1st and will be due in March. The program is Chaired by Gary Morrison and awards are determined by a panel of judges.
